Kevin and Casey – Night time e-session.

I lOVE shooting at night. While it has its challenges, the light and contrast in the images are so fun to work with. I end up seeing more shapes, forms, lines and colors that don’t always stand out during the day time.

About a week ago, I had a chance to do an engagement session with one of my 2010 couples at night (their idea) in Kalamazoo and we had a blast. The temperature was as good as you can ask for to still have snow falling and yet not be miserable in the freezing cold. I was really hoping for snow actually as I knew it would make for some fun lighting effects and… as you’ll see God provided.

We spent most of the night in Downtown Kalamazoo, and then grabbed 2 quick shots at the Radison to close out the session. Here are some of the highlights. : )

Kellie – Model Shoot & Workshop

Yesterday one of my 2010 Brides (I’m doing her wedding video) stopped by and we began working on an exciting new idea for a future workshop.

The condensed version is that it would be a workshop for both models and photographers to attend with the goal of improving posing from both sides of the camera. Models would come to learn to pose, and photographers would come to learn what poses work and how to assist the subject to move and pose.

Kellie has a lot of educational and training experience teaching modeling for Barbizon and has a well rounded portfolio of experience to to pull from. On the photographer side, learning what things to look for as well as how to instruct people to move is an essential part of any portrait work be it weddings, seniors, fashion or others. We think this workshop idea will be great for anyone who wants to learn how to better thier posing no matter what side of the camera you are on! If you are interested in this workshop (either for modeling or as a photographer) shoot me an e-mail so we can keep you posted as we fine tune the details.

After our afternoon meeting, we quickly snapped a few photos for fun… so I thought I’d share some of my favorites.

Introducing Morgan – Model Shoot

Well this is a first… posting a blog while sitting on an airplane.

I wanted to get this posted before my video shoot starts today in New Jersey. .. so here we go.

Below are some of the highlights from my photoshoot with Morgan this week. Morgan is kick-starting her modeling career and asked me to get her started. She did fantastic and I know she (along with her friend Brittany) will be a great addition to any agency that signs her.
